Currently hold a position as Deputy Music Director and conductor in Bach Musica and the Auckland Chinese Philharmonic Choir. She has served as Deputy Music Director at the Auckland Choral. She is a collaborative pianist and music coach for instrumentalists and singers. She is the founder, musical and artistic director of Wairua Sinfonietta, an orchestra which consists of emerging and professional musicians locally and abroad, who together raise social awareness and funds for charitable organisations around the globe.Įlizabeth is a NZSI-registered Suzuki Piano teacher, having trained in Matsumoto, Japan (the headquarters of Talent Education Research Institute).Įlizabeth holds a busy teaching studio, teaching both Conventional and Suzuki methods. Her tertiary training includes Composition, Piano Accompaniment, and Chamber Music, Double Bass performance and the latest choral and orchestra conducting. She holds a MMus in Performance with First Class Honours from the University of Auckland. ![]() Mr Olsen brings a wide range of knowledge and experiences to his teaching, and is keen to inspire his students to develop the same passion that he has for music.Īn active musician and clinician in the music community, Elizabeth's background is diverse. While double bass is currently his main instrument for practice and performance in jazz and classical music, he also plays and teaches electric and acoustic guitar, electric bass, and more. Mr Olsen is also a composer in his own right, the largest of his works being ‘Zealandia: Suite for Double Bass, Piano, and String Quartet’, which premiered in 2022, with Mr Olsen as featured soloist on double bass. He has performed professionally in a wide range of musical genres, from classical, to jazz, to rock/metal, and musical theatre, and has taught in schools and music institutions across Auckland. Born and raised in East Auckland, he holds a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours as well as a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching, both from the University of Auckland. Mr Jimmy Olsen is an experienced and enthusiastic musician and educator. Mr McCallum is also recognised as a founding member of successful indie-rock band ‘Motocade’. He sees the guitar as the ideal way to communicate, entertain, and express oneself. Jazz, folk, soul and funk guitar playing techniques are also a large part of his teaching skills. His teaching emphasis is on contemporary rock and pop guitar styles with established guitar techniques. Over the past five years, Mr McCallum has built an esteemed reputation as a passionate guitar teacher and band mentor.
